On June 22nd, 2018 the West Ridge Fire Department was dispatched to an unusual single vehicle accident in the 2400 block of West 38th. Street. When first arriving units arrived on scene they observed a Jeep that had struck a fence in that area. The top rail, which is made of metal and was approximately 35 feet in length had penetrated the engine compartment, continuing through the firewall, penetrated the drivers seat and drivers side rear passenger seat, and continued out the back tail gate of this vehicle. The driver was observed seated in the front passenger seat of this vehicle. The driver had difficulty communicating with Fire, Law Enforcement, and EMS, but he was conscious and did not appear to have suffered from any serious injury.
As you can tell, this drivers fate could have taken a tragic turn had he remained in the drivers seat of his vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital for examination of his minor injuries.
